What Is It
What Is Full-Body Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red (660nm) and near-infrared (850nm) light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by mitochondria, the energy centers of your cells. Research suggests this may support ATP production, help reduce oxidative stress and local inflammation, and support tissue repair.
"Full body" means the light reaches your whole body at once instead of one area at a time. The Prism Light Pod at MindBody Med does this with 17,000 LEDs in a single 15-minute session, so your back, hips, knees, and shoulders are all in the light together.
How It Works
Step In
Lie down inside the Prism Light Pod, a full-body light enclosure.
15-Minute Session
17,000 LEDs emit targeted red and near-infrared wavelengths across your entire body.
Cellular Absorption
Light energy is absorbed by mitochondria. Research suggests this may support ATP production and cellular repair processes.
Walk Out
No downtime. You can go straight back to your day.

The Device
A Full-Body Red Light Therapy Bed, Not a Panel
The Prism Light Pod is a full-body red light therapy bed. More than 17,000 630nm, 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared LEDs deliver 360° coverage at 100 mW/cm², providing consistent, high-output performance in a single 15-minute session. Six one-touch preset programs adjust the session, and your provider can recommend the one that fits your goals.
- May help reduce inflammation and support recovery
- May support local circulation and oxygen delivery
- May support skin health and collagen production
- Non-invasive, UV-free, no downtime
Clinic vs Gym or Spa
Why Use a Red Light Therapy Clinic in Seattle Instead of a Gym Bed?
Red light beds now show up in gyms, tanning salons, and spas, and they are not all the same device. Here is what you get in our clinic, and what to ask about anywhere else.
| MindBody Med Prism Light Pod | What to check at a gym or spa | |
|---|---|---|
| Device | Medical-grade, FDA-registered Prism Light Pod with published wavelengths (630nm, 660nm, 850nm) and output (100 mW/cm²). | Varies widely. Ask for the wavelengths, power output, and registration status before you pay. |
| Coverage | 360° full-body coverage from 17,000+ LEDs in one 15-minute session. | Some beds light only one side, or use a panel that covers a single area at a time. |
| Setting | Inside a chiropractic and wellness clinic listed in the UW Medicine Clinical Referral Directory, with licensed providers on site. | Often an add-on at a gym, tanning salon, or spa, without clinical staff on hand. |
| Guidance | Your free first session includes a plan recommendation based on your goals and health history questions. | Usually self-directed. You pick the program and the schedule. |
| Care plan | Can be paired with chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, or sports rehab in the same visit. | Stand-alone sessions, separate from any hands-on care. |

Made For You
Two Common Reasons Patients Book
Recovery & Everyday Discomfort
Red light therapy is most often booked by active people and by patients already receiving chiropractic, massage, or acupuncture care. Research suggests it may help reduce local inflammation, support circulation, and support recovery after exercise or injury. Fifteen minutes in the pod, 2 to 3 times a week, alongside the care plan you're already following. Learn how it pairs with a chiropractic visit, or read our guides to red light therapy for muscle recovery, joint pain and arthritis, and back pain.
- May help reduce local inflammation
- May support recovery following exercise or athletic activity
- May help manage musculoskeletal discomfort alongside hands-on care
Skin Health & Rejuvenation
The same wavelengths used in medspa facial treatments, delivered to your whole body at once. Red light at 660nm has been studied for its role in supporting collagen production and skin cell renewal, and it is commonly used alongside facials, microneedling, and injectables across Seattle and Bellevue. If you're a SkinSpirit University Village guest, your first pod session is on us.
- May support collagen production and skin tone
- Full-body coverage, not a single-area panel
- Pairs well with your existing skincare treatments

Pair It With Chiropractic or Acupuncture
Red light therapy is a complementary tool, not a standalone treatment. Ask about combining your session with a chiropractic adjustment or acupuncture in the same visit.
Learn how chiropractic + RLT fit togetherCommon Questions
Is it safe?
Red and near-infrared light therapy is non-invasive and contains no UV radiation. The Prism Light Pod is a medical-grade, FDA-registered device, and photobiomodulation has been the subject of extensive peer-reviewed research. People with photosensitivity, those taking photosensitizing medications, and anyone with a relevant medical history should talk to their doctor first.
How many sessions do I need?
Red light therapy is typically used on a consistent schedule rather than as a one-time visit. Most programs are built around 2 to 3 visits per week. Your free first session includes a plan recommendation based on your goals, and individual experiences vary.
How much does it cost?
Your first session is free. From there, the intro package is 6 sessions for $149, with larger packages and monthly memberships (8 sessions for $250/mo, or unlimited for $350/mo) that bring the per-visit cost down significantly.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. The Prism Light Pod feels like lying in gentle warmth. Most patients find sessions relaxing, as each program pairs the light with a calming soundscape.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. Many patients schedule red light therapy immediately before or after chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, or massage, and we offer combo discounts when you add a service. Talk to your provider about whether same-day stacking fits your care plan.
Is it covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans do not cover red light therapy yet, which is why our packages and memberships are priced for out-of-pocket affordability. Ask the front desk which option fits your plan.
Does red light therapy help with weight loss or sleep?
We do not market red light therapy for weight loss, fat loss, metabolism, or sleep. Some patients describe changes in those areas, but those are individual experiences, not established treatment outcomes, and current evidence does not support advertising them as benefits. The areas with the most research support are tissue recovery, circulation, inflammation, exercise recovery, musculoskeletal discomfort, and skin health.
